The Maine Event, an annual fundraiser celebrating the legacy of coastal conservationists Neal and Karen Maine, returns to the Seaside Aquarium from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Feb. 27.

The Maines have inspired many educational programs in the region. Karen Maine created the Puffin Club, which later became the Haystack Rock Awareness Program.

Neal Maine, an avid photographer and former Seaside High School teacher, co-founded the North Coast Land Conservancy and was on the Seaside Aquarium’s board of directors for 25 years.

During the Maine Event, admissions collected at the aquarium will be donated to North Coast Land Conservancy, Friends of Haystack Rock and the Wildlife Center of the North Coast. For more details, visit www.seasideaquarium.com.
