We believe Cannon Beach needs a new City Hall and a police station, but not at the excessive costs being proposed. For comparison, Manzanita’s new city hall and police station will cost half as much as Cannon Beach is preparing to pay.

The city enacted a prepared meals tax and stated those revenues would be dedicated towards the construction of a new City Hall and police station. After establishing these new revenue streams, revenue bonds were suddenly called “financial agreements” in what we believe is an attempt to manipulate this process and keep it out of the hands of the voters.

But when it comes to $33.6 million of excessive spending, we believe the people of Cannon Beach deserve to vote.
