Coalition awards $13,000 for events, projects

The Clatsop County Cultural Coalition has awarded $13,000 to local organizations for projects, programs and events that will take place in 2025.
In Astoria, the North Coast Symphonic Band got $2,000 to replace a set of timpani drums, while Friends of Suomi Hall was awarded $2,000 to produce 10 kanteles (a plucked string instrument) and El Centro Northwest received $1,500 to help present a Dia De Los Muertos event.
Partners for the PAC, a coalition of local organizations that maintains the Charlene Larsen Center for the Performing Arts, got $1,500 to hire professional mariachi musicians for the Day of Culture in conjunction with the Astoria School District, and the Warrenton Community Library received $2,500 to partially fund an automatic door opener that complies with Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
In Seaside, the Sunset Park and Recreation Foundation was awarded $2,000 to create a performance venue, and the Seaside Museum and Historical Society received $2,000 to help create a new exhibit focused on nontourism businesses in Seaside and their owners and employees.
The grant awards are funded by the Oregon Cultural Trust.
