Rescuers save teen stranded offshore
A 19-year-old male was rescued Monday evening by the Cannon Beach Fire District Rescue Team after being swept out 50 to 75 yards offshore.
The rescue team reported that the teenager had been boogie boarding in the ocean north of Haystack Rock before being separated from the rest of his group.
In a statement, Cannon Beach Fire Ocean Safety Division Head Koa Lyu said the rescue was a “miracle” amid the large surf and king tides.
The teenager was safely brought back to shore at 6:03 p.m., where he was evaluated and released by the Medix Ambulance crew.
