Letter: Worked hard

Dear Gearhart voters: City Councilor Sharon Kloepfer has worked hard to represent the small-town feel of Gearhart. Is that not one of the reasons we live here? She has gone out of her way to meet with residents in their own homes.

She does listen closely to citizen input, and she believes in citizen involvement. She adheres to our comprehensive plan, which was created to protect and preserve the low-density feel of Gearhart. This plan is one of the best things about our city.

Sharon works diligently to prepare for meetings, reading all of the monthly packets, in order to be an informed representative to you. The responsibilities of a city councilor do not end with attending a monthly meeting. There are countless work sessions, meetings the state sometimes requires and preparations for town halls.

Previously, Sharon has served Gearhart in many capacities: as a city councilor, planning commissioner, Community Emergency Response Team member, on the budget committee and Dune Advisory Committee and as a North Coast Gearhart Land Conservancy steward.

Kloepfer believes in the preservation of our beautiful environment. She did not support bringing in liquefied natural gas to Clatsop County, as did her opponent. Kloepfer supports input from both our police and fire departments, and is hopeful about a new public safety building. She believes in educating business owners as they navigate learning to work within a new community.

Please join me in helping her foster respectful and thoughtful dialogue. Vote “yes” for Kloepfer.
