Clatsop County mailed roughly 33,560 property tax statements to real and personal property owners this week.
Property owners who have signed up for e-statements will receive an email instead.
Payment of at least one-third is due by Dec. 15. Those who pay in full by Nov. 15 will receive a 3% discount, and those who pay two-thirds by Nov. 15 will receive a 2% discount.
Checks should be made payable to Clatsop County Tax Collector. Credit and debit card payments can be made online on the county’s website.
The county’s tax statements account for $116.3 million — a 5% increase from last year – which will pay for county government services, city services, education, the Port of Astoria, rural fire and special districts. The increase is due to several factors, including the 3% increase in assessed value on most properties, value due to new construction activity and new or increased taxing district levies and bonds. Those who live in a taxing district with new voter-approved bonds or levies may see more than a 3% increase in property taxes.
