Seaside

April 11, 1957 — July 26, 2024

Janet Kathleen Malin passed away peacefully on July 26 in Seaside after a long illness.

Born on April 11, 1957, she was the cherished daughter of Thomas Minchell Malin and Betty Jean Bonner Malin.

Kathy graduated from Western States Chiropractic College (now University of Western States) in Portland. She went on to establish a successful private practice in Seaside, where she devoted over 35 years to caring for her community with dedication and compassion.

An avid skier throughout her life, Kathy loved any opportunity to be outdoors. She cherished hiking with her dogs, tandem biking, sailing with family and having the ocean as her backyard for all it offered.

Kathy was a remarkable woman who wore many hats: Daughter, sister, life partner, stepmother, grandmother, sponsor, confidante and friend to all.

Above all, Kathy was a healer. Her strong desire to contribute to the well-being of every person she met created her joy of living, and made all who knew her feel blessed.

Kathy’s heart found its match in Robin Laughlin, also of Seaside. Together they built a life characterized by devotion, mutual respect and a shared desire to help others.

She was the proud stepmother to two sons, Mason and Nick Mckenzie, and grandmother to Zoe Reed Mckenzie.

Kathy’s memory will be cherished by all those she touched; a testament to a life beautifully lived and a woman deeply loved.

She is survived by her brothers, Randall Malin and Tom Malin III, and her father, Thomas Minchell Malin, 94, all of Salt Lake City.
