July 23, 1941 — Aug. 7, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kay Auld Peterson on Aug. 7.

Kay was born in Portland on July 23, 1941, to Dave and Margaret Auld of Seaside. She was raised in Seaside, and attended Oregon State University as a member of Delta Gamma Sorority.

Kay taught elementary school in Bend before marrying Jack Peterson on March 12, 1966, and moving to Paisley.

Her commitment to those she loved was evident in everything she did. Kay’s life was marked by her dedication — not just to her family, but also to the community she cherished.

Kay helped start a kindergarten program in Paisley. She taught first and second grades in Lakeview for many years.

She was a dedicated volunteer for the Friends of the Lake County Library. She was also an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She supported several youth sports and activities in Lakeview.

Her kindness touched the lives of many, and her legacy of giving will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Her greatest treasures were her family and friends. She loved meeting new people and making connections. She and Jack traveled extensively in their retired life, and enjoyed spending time at the beach in Seaside with the kids.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jack; her children, Molly Reggiani (David), Susan Peterson (Danny Aynes), Mike Peterson (Joan) and Mark Peterson (Susitna); her 10 grandchildren, Brian, Megan, Hannah, Jake, Noah, Kaiden, Ethan, Ella, Riley and Lucy; great-granddaughter, Eliana; as well as her brother, Jim Auld, of Seaside.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Connie Mork, of Seaside.

A funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 14 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Lakeview, followed by a reception.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Friends of the Lake County Library, 26 South G Street, Lakeview, OR 97630, an organization close to Kay’s heart.
