Parents need to pay attention to what books their kids are checking out at the public libraries, and public schools, for that matter.

There are sexually explicit materials in the library, accessible to anyone, including children. It’s the children whom Seaside City Councilor Steve Dillard is attempting to lawfully protect here — not adults.

I’ve known Steve for a number of years. His integrity is respected by everyone who knows him, and he listens to all concerns regarding city matters, which is what we expect of all our elected council members to do.

We all believe in the First Amendment, and Steve is no exception. He has said numerous times that he absolutely does not wish to ban or censor books. I totally support him.
