Letter: Over and over again

I met Tessa James Scheller some 30 years ago. I was walking my dogs on a trail in Warrenton and encountered Scheller doing some hands-on work to improve the trail. That’s something Tessa has done a lot in Clatsop County, building trails, restoring streams and planting trees. In fact, Tessa worked with Warrenton High School students to plant thousands of them.
I tell you this because Tessa is running in May for the District 2 seat on the Clatsop County commission. And a good way to get a sense of what a person will do is to take a look at what they have done. What Tessa has done is public service, over and over again.
An Army veteran, Scheller’s work tending to the wounded in Vietnam is what propelled her into a career as a registered nurse and certified anesthetist. Tessa’s public service has included 10 years on the college board and roll-up-your-sleeves work on the Clatsop Soil and Water Conservation District and Skipanon Water Control District boards. She has also worked with the Oregon Department of Transportation on regional issues.
Tessa is knocking on doors in District 2, and I hope you’ll have a chance to meet and talk with her. Tessa has wisdom, experience and the respect of all she has worked with. I hope you will give her your vote for the Clatsop County commission in the May election.
