Harvey Frank Peeke was born in Astoria on March 29, 1925, to George and Augusta Peeke. He passed away on March 22, one week short of his 99th birthday.

After serving in the U.S. Merchant Marine, he began work at the Owen-Peeke Feed & Grain Co. in Astoria. During this time, in 1948, he met and married Mary Lee Hibbard. They relocated to Corvallis, where Harvey pursued a degree in pharmacy.

After graduating in 1954, they moved to Portland, where he began his career as a pharmacist at Selling Building Pharmacy. As a pharmacist, Harvey was not entirely satisfied working for someone else, so he bought Roseburg Pharmacy in 1961, moving his family south to Roseburg.

In 1974, he sold the pharmacy. For a couple of years, he assisted around the area as a relief pharmacist. Eventually, he accepted a pharmacy job at Douglas Community Hospital.

Following his retirement, Harvey and Mary decided to move to Woodburn in 1995. They settled into the local retirement community. In 2005, Mary passed away, which was a difficult time for Harvey.

However, a couple of years later, Harvey and Donna Sutton met, married and started the final chapter in Harvey’s life. Harvey and Donna lived in Sherwood at the time of his death.

Harvey loved spending time with his family, which included a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed playing cards, making jokes, traveling, taking Sunday drives, serving others and attending Bible studies and church to learn about his savior, Jesus Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Lee; his brother, George Peeke; and his sister, Geri Chisholm.

He is survived by his wife, Donna, of Sherwood; his daughter, Laurie McHenry, of Fargo, North Dakota; his son, Tim (Danette) Peeke, of Sherwood; his son, Chris Peeke, of Novato, California; as well as his grandchildren, Silas Lee, Michael, Benjamin, Sarah, Brett, Alyssa and Nicole; and his great-grandchildren, Hunter, Ava, Riley, Brady, Evan, Alex and Athena.

In memoriam, donations may be made to the BrightFocus Foundation, Alzheimer’s disease and macular degeneration disease research (brightfocus.org). Donations may also be made to the American Heart Association (heart.org).
