Letter: Apology

I am a recovering alcoholic and addict, and I am writing this to apologize for my actions that occurred while in your beautiful town, Seaside.
In 2007, I was with my then-wife and two older children on vacation in your beautiful town. While eating at one of your restaurants, and drinking at the bar that was connected to it, I became extremely drunk and started a fight with everyone in the bar. The bartender was able to get me out of the bar before the police showed up.
I continued my alcoholic rage at the hotel, but eventually passed out. That potentially beautiful day turned into a nightmare for my family and anyone that I crossed paths with that day, and is burned into my memory forever.
While I cannot erase what happened, I want to apologize from the deepest parts of my heart. I have been sober for 3 1/2 years, and this day in my life has constantly weighed on me. Please know that I am striving to never hurt another person due to my disease, and hope that anyone unfortunate to have met me that day can find it in their hearts to forgive me.
