Oct. 16, 1939 — Sept. 30, 2023
Mary Jane (Agren) Korff was born in Astoria on Oct. 16, 1939, to Gustaf and Vivian Agren. She passed away on Sept. 30.
Mary Jane spent her life nurturing her family and those close to her. Everyone was welcome around her table, and the coffee pot was always on. Many hours full of laughter and conversation were spent over plates of her delicious meals.
She learned the joy of cooking and sewing from her mother, Vivian, and shared that joy with her daughters and granddaughter. She was a devoted mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. She also had a soft spot for any animal in need and took in many strays.
Mary Jane was a spitfire, and always made those around her laugh. After graduating from Jewell School, she soon met Tim Korff, and the two married in 1964. They had a lust for life, and enjoyed driving cars and motorcycles. They were also members of the Jeep club Sons of Beaches.
They were never afraid of a new adventure, the greatest being parenthood. Mary Jane and Tim welcomed their two beautiful daughters, Christina (Korff) Johnston, in 1968, and Pamela Korff, in 1970.
Mary Jane loved living in Jewell, and worked at the Jewell School as a cleaner. It was the same school that she, her daughters and her grandchildren attended. She also worked as a dietitian at a medical facility in Wheeler.
Mary Jane grew up on a farm and always loved the outdoors, especially the beach, where she had many picnics with her family. When she wasn’t outdoors, she enjoyed crafting. She was an avid quilter and made many blankets for her family.
She is survived by her husband, Tim Korff; brother, John Agren; her sister, Jeannie Agren-House; her children, Christina and Pamela; her two nieces; and her five grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Jewell Cemetery, 84410 Beneke Creek Road in Seaside.
