Filmmaker to show three shorts at Seaside Public Library
Three shorts by documentary filmmaker Ron Walker will be presented during an event in the Community Room at the Seaside Public Library at 2 p.m. Oct. 7.
The event will also include an appearance by local author Linda Eddleston, whose recent book accompanies the story in Walker’s film “Boxcar Days.”
That film focuses on the life of Eddleston’s father, Frank Rose, who was unhoused as a teenager during the Great Depression. In it, pieces of archival film are intercut with interviews and photographs.
Other films include “Montage,” a collage of local music and dance performances, and “Halloween Havoc,” a seasonal comedy short.
Walker, a filmmaker, musician and artist, learned about filmmaking as a resident composer in Portland in the 1980s. During this period, he composed music for the film “This Place in Time,” which is shown at the Mount St. Helens Interpretive Center.
