- Michaelson
It is with great pain and sorrow that we must say goodbye to Timmy Aloysius Michaelson, who has passed on to be with his son and our Heavenly Father after a long, hard battle with cancer. He passed away on Sept. 15 at the age of 68.
Timmy Aloysius Michaelson was born in Bethel, Alaska, to Joe Michaelson and Olga (Kameroff) Michaelson on June 17, 1955. He was the seventh of nine children.
He grew up in Lower Klaskag, Alaska, and later he would venture to Dutch Harbor, Alaska, in the late 1970s. He found work there that kept him returning for three years. While working in Dutch Harbor he met the love of his life, Earlla Qualin.
Timmy and Earlla married in 1977 in Unalaska, Alaska. He would then later relocate to the lower 48 states to be with her and their growing family. They divorced later in life, but not before raising their children. They welcomed a son, Timothy Earl, in 1978, and a daughter, Heather Alta, in 1980.
He worked in various canneries throughout Alaska, Astoria and Warrenton, retiring from the Astoria Golf and Country Club as the prep cook.
His hobbies consisted of fishing, hunting, mushroom foraging and spending as much time as possible with his children, grandsons and his little princess, his great-granddaughter.
He was a very active member of the Alcoholics Anonymous community. He truly did live his life “one day at a time.”
He is survived by his daughter, Heather Michaelson; daughter-in-law, Summer Michaelson; grandsons, Hunter (Bryn) Michaelson and Gage Michaelson; his little princess, great-granddaughter Harper Michaelson; special family members Toni, Mike and Sean Pomeroy, Alex Cabalona and Levi Qualin. He is also survived by the love of his life, Earlla Qualin.
He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy E. Michaelson.
At Timmy’s request, there will be no celebration of life. If you would like to honor him, please donate in his memory to any AA affiliation in the Astoria or Seaside area.
His ashes will be spread by his family at a later date. Arrangements have been made through Hughes-Ransom Mortuary.
