- Tillamook graduate Jacob Begin, left, is bringing his basketball camp to Astoria in July.
A former Tillamook basketball player is bringing his hoops camp to Astoria in July.
Jacob Begin, Tillamook High School class of 2011, has a full schedule of summer camps this summer and the North Coast is on the list.
After camps in Monmouth/Independence and Oregon City, the Begin camp heads to Astoria for three days, July 26-28 at Astoria High School. The camp will then head to Medford in August.
Begin’s camp will be run with two groups: Group 1 (students entering third through sixth grades), from 9 a.m. to noon each day; and Group 2 (seventh through 12th graders), 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
The cost of the camp is $150. Groups are limited to 30 spots each.
Jacob Begin Basketball is described as an elite basketball training service that develops professional-level skills, including decision making, playmaking and shooting abilities. Begin has helped players from high school to the professional level maximize their athletic potential.
“I have worked with guys like Payton Pritchard, Harrison Barnes, Paul George, and many others,” Begin said. “I am running some camps this summer for the youth, something I normally don’t do. I cater more to the older kids, but really wanted to get out this summer and work with the youth, especially in places that are hungry for it.”
