Obituary: Gerald Keith (Jerry) Perkins

In the company of his loved ones, Gerald Keith (Jerry) Perkins, 88, passed away on May 26 at his home in Thousand Palms, California.

Jerry was born in Eugene on Feb. 2, 1935, to Alva and Leona Perkins. Jerry graduated from Medford High School and went on to Linfield University on a football scholarship. Jerry then joined his father in business in Sandy.

Jerry was a successful business owner of Clatsop Distributing, B & D Enterprises, Trophy Club, Cody’s Place, The Hideaway, Corner Club & Rouge Valley Travel Agency, which were all located in the Pacific Northwest.

Jerry met his second wife, Kathleen (Taylor), the love of his life, and they were married on April 17, 1975. Together they raised a blended family of nine.

Jerry loved to travel, play golf, watch football and spend time with his family and friends.

Jerry leaves behind his wife, Kay; his children, Kari Gauthier (Phil), Jodi Perkins, Gerald Keith Perkins II, Tobi Zavala, Terry Taylor, Bobby Taylor (Sara), Tammy Taylor and Tony Taylor; his brother and best friend, Larry Perkins (Shirley); three nieces; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Longo, and son-in-law, Richard Zavala.

There is a celebration of life on June 23 at the Tri Palms Estates Clubhouse in Thousand Palms.
