Letter: Closing

After over 40 years in Seaside, the little shop around the corner, the Spay and Neuter Thrift Shop, will be closing its doors. A local developer has purchased the Gilbert Building.
The thrift store has served the families and animals of Clatsop County through its many monetary donations and certificates to help to spay and neuter their pets, thus partnering with veterinarians help cut down the overpopulation of pets. The thrift store has also given generously to the Clatsop County Animal Shelter and our local food bank for people unable to afford to feed their pets.

Through the generous donations of resellable clothing and household items, the store has been able to achieve its mission. We thank all the residents and visitors who have given donations for resale in the store.
We also thank all the incredible volunteers who have worked effortlessly at the store getting items ready for sale. Our volunteers have become a second family to one another and, even during COVID, kept the store open to provide customers with the many items they were looking for, as well as the spay and neuter certificates.
Once again we thank everyone in the city, county and tourists who have helped us achieve our mission. We hope, through a special arrangement, to be able to continue to help people with the spay and neuter certificates, and more information will become available prior to our closing.
