The Astoria chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recognized Chelsea Mungia Oros as the chapter winner and the first place state winner among fifth graders in the Junior American Citizens contest.

Her creative expression short story was on the 200th anniversary of the Santa Fe Trail.

Oros attends Pacific Ridge Elementary School in Seaside. She received certificates from both the chapter and state, as well as a check for her accomplishment.

The Junior American Citizen contest is open to youth from preschool through 12th grade. Information about the contest is available each September.
