A man and his dog were rescued May 13 after falling off a cliff in Ecola State Park near Cannon Beach.

Emergency crews were called to Indian Beach Trail at about 12:15 p.m., where they found the man and his dog 75 feet down a steep embankment. 

A rope rescue team helped bring the man and his dog back up to safety. They were not injured in the fall.

Officials say people should follow park rules when visiting, including not crossing fences and barriers put in place for safety. Trail edges can also be fragile and cause hikers to lose footing.
