Homeless in Gearhart
Gearhart may be catching up to some of the other coastal towns, as homelessness became an issue at the February City Council meeting. The council took steps to address homelessness, joining cities throughout the North Coast to adopt a resolution seeking a greater share of state funding.

Goonies?
It’s not everyday that a North Coast chase becomes national news. That’s what happened on Feb. 3, when a Victoria, British Columbia, man suspected of criminal activity and wanted as a fugitive out of British Columbia was arrested on Feb. 3 in Seaside hours after he was rescued from a capsizing boat near the mouth of the Columbia River.
The story went viral worldwide.
The events on Feb. 3 followed a report to Astoria police on Feb. 1 that Jericho Labonte, 35, left a dead fish on the porch of the house made famous by the 1985 film, “The Goonies.”
He also allegedly placed stickers over camera lenses outside the residence and returned to remove the fish.
Happy Valentine’s Day
Read columnist Skyler Archibald’s love letter to his wife, Chelsea, just in time for the most romantic holiday.
“I became best friends with Chelsea Forbes some 17 years ago and we celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary last year. She still makes my heart skip when I see her. Love can be lots of things, but for me, it’s about finding someone who inspires you to be a better person. Chelsea inspires me with the way that she continually loves and parents our children: she brings care, affection, support and fun to every interaction.”
Here’s hoping you find the love of your life!
