Housing, housing, housing
Seaside is getting creative with workforce and affordable housing options. This week the City Council approved a rezoning of a former wrecking yard for apartments, and the housing task force presented options for dormitory-style units at the former school district administration building on South Franklin.
Caution, people crossing
Don’t forget us, residents east of U.S. Highway 101 in Gearhart. Getting across the highway requires a car — unless pedestrians are willing to dodge traffic. They want the Oregon Department of Transportation to consider an additional crossing at Shamrock Road for connectivity and safety. ODOT is putting final touches on a transportation facility plan that will guide Gearhart highway projects into the future.
Finance manager
Seaside welcomes Zach Fleck, new finance director. Fleck is one of many staff changes in the past months, including the addition of City Manager Spencer Kyle, Seaside Civic & Convention Center General Manager Brian Owen and Seaside Chamber of Commerce CEO Katie McCloud. A new library director could be chosen this week.
