Letter: McVey has what it takes

I have been a resident and local business owner in Seaside for nearly a decade and a half and am concerned with multiple issues that face our community. Our city, our home, is experiencing economic hardships, decline in tourism, problems with homelessness, affordable housing for our workforce, and so much more.

Although we have three good choices for the at large councilor for Ward 3 and 4, I fully support Seamus McVey for the position. He has new and innovative ideas, firsthand experience in dealing with the problems our city faces, is currently working closely with many of our current city officials and department heads, and has a deep love for the wonderful people of our community.

I have known Seamus personally and professionally for many many years and know that he is hard working, honest, dependable and tenacious. He’s got a big mouth and isn’t afraid to use it if that’s what it takes to get things done to help the people of Seaside. He is not a politician, but rather of the people and for the people. When turned to for help, he is approachable and easy to talk to, welcomes feedback, and strives to always find a workable solution for everyone.

As a proud American veteran, Eagle Scout, former religious leader, founder of a multistate 12-step addictions and mental health recovery program, personal caregiver, parent, grandparent and business owner, Seamus McVey has what it takes to represent the people of Seaside on our City Council.
