Gearhart Golf Links is winner of Clatsop Cup

Two of the most storied golf courses are found right here on the North Oregon Coast.
Astoria Golf & Country Club enters its 100th year in 2023, and Gearhart Golf Links is celebrating its 130th year in operation.
On Sept. 17 and 18, the their respective teams competed in the annual Clatsop Cup. Team Astoria has the stronger record over the years, winning eight of the prior 10 sets of matches.
The event started in 2012 with the idea that a set of matches between the two squads was not only a fun idea, but an important event to build camaraderie between the two clubs. With new head professional Jared Lambert at the helm of the Astoria Team, and Jason Bangild leading the Gearhart squad, the 12 player teams played two sets of matches at Astoria Golf & Country Club on Saturday and singles matches at Gearhart Golf Links on Sunday.
At the end of the first day, Team Astoria led by 1 point. Home course advantage proved to be the difference on Sunday, as Team Gearhart won the majority of the singles to win the Clatsop Cup.
Gearhart’s third victory means The Clatsop Cup will stay in the Gearhart Pro Shop until next year’s event.
