Sunset Empire Park and Recreation District partners with Consejo Hispano to host a celebratory event on Oct. 8, from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Sunset Recreation Center.

National Hispanic Heritage Month takes place through Oct. 15, recognizing the contributions and influence of Hispanic and Latino peoples to the history, culture and achievements of the United States. It celebrates the heritage, traditions, languages and cultures of varied Latino communities.

The event offers food, music, traditional folkloric and Azteca dance performances, door prizes, a vaccination clinic and community resources.
