Neil Anthony Sherman, 56, was identified by Seaside police as the man who died in a kayaking incident in Seaside early this month. 

On Labor Day, Seaside Fire and Rescue responded to a report of an empty kayak in the ocean off Fourth Avenue at 10:45 a.m. Sherman was found in the water off Second Avenue and brought to shore. 

He was transported to Providence Seaside Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Sherman, whose mailing address in Seattle, had a home in Seaside.
