Good news — it’s lunchtime. Downtown Seaside is coming back to life, as the Mexican favorite, The Stand, heads into the future with a new generation in the kitchen. Down the street, Bagels by the Sea is looking god — same great bagels plus comfortable outdoor seating, firepits and stylish interior decor.

Can’t tell the players without a scorecard?

In Seaside, if you go to a public meeting you might not recognize some of the new faces. Former code compliance officer Jeff Flory is now the planning director. Brian Owen will be taking over from convention center general manager Russ Vandenberg. And at the end of June, Spencer Kyle is slated to arrive as city manager, replacing Mark Winstanley, who is retiring after two decades at the city’s top spot.

Ramping up

With all this, Seaside is ramping up for the creation of an overnight camping area on the edge of the Mill Ponds Natural History Park. The goal is to enable enforcement of camping rules and to provide a permitted, accessible overnight location for those without shelter.

All this and much more in this week’s Signal. Thank you for reading and subscribing!
