- Masudur Khan and Asrar Farooqui of Khan Properties.
One of the more intriguing local notables, Masudur Khan, co-owner of Seaside Lodging LLC. He bought the Gilbert Block building in 2021 for more than $3 million, and has a string of apartment and business developments along South Holladay Drive and U.S. Highway 101. His most recent purchase is Bagels by the Sea, the bagelry on South Holladay Drive. His manager Asrar Farooqui, a former IT professional from Hyderabad, India, had never even tasted a bagel before coming to Seaside.
Speaking of food, in Gearhart locals are breathing a bit easier to hear that a new restaurant will be coming downtown, to the former Pacific Way Cafe space at the corner of Cottage and Pacific. Owners Lisa and John Allen are leasing the property to a Lake Oswego couple with a background in business development.

How all this ties in with the employment crunch and affordable homes or lodging is an ongoing story that touches on every aspect of city policy.
