12:46 p.m., 300 block Alpine Drive: A disturbance is reported.

Sept. 18

5:24 a.m., Fifth Avenue and N. Jackson: A person reports their vehicle was illegally entered.

10:18 a.m., E. End Avenue D: Caller asks assistance for information about her father who she said is a transient in Seaside. She said she’d had no contact with him for months. Police contacted her father who reported through them back to her that he is fine.

Sept. 19

2:26 a.m., 2500 block S. Roosevelt: A deceased person is reported.

3:41 a.m., 600 block S. Columbia: A disturbance is reported.

6:40 p.m., 14th Avenue and Ocean Shore: A party digging a large hole in the sand is reported; officers responding advise the group of city ordinances and the group leader says they will fill in the hole.

11:36 p.m., 500 block Avenue G: A caller reports their car was illegally entered.

Sept. 20

5:24 a.m., 1100 block Broadway: Subjects are trespassed from a property and advised to not return.

12:59 p.m., Police headquarters: A person came in for their annual sex offender registration. New fingerprints were taken.

9:53 p.m., 900 block Avenue S: A disturbance is reported.

Sept. 21

8:19 a.m., 1700 block N. Holladay: A deceased person is reported.

9:08 a.m., 1700 block Beach Drive: Caller reports someone came into her yard and turned the hose on full force and then left with the water running. A property crime report was made.

10:53 a.m. Avenue T and the Prom: Caller reports a female sleeping on a bench, preventing her from sitting there. Police on arrival tell the female to wake up and move along.

11:32 a.m., 1400 block N. Wahanna: Caller reports an abandoned suitcase. Police find a dirty old nylon bag full of garbage which they throw in the trash.

3:18 p.m., Police headquarters: A person came in for their annual sex offender registration.

5:17 p.m., 400 block S. Holladay: Property crimes are reported.

Sept. 23

6:49 a.m., 1200 block S. Wahanna: Police respond to a reported disturbance in an adjacent unit; it was about children going to school. No further action was taken.

2:15 p.m., Chamber parking: Suspicious circumstances are reported.

11:13 p.m., Avenue A/Turnaround: A person is arrested on a warrant.

Oregon State Police

Fatality

Leah Brown, 30, of Nehalem, was killed Sept. 17 in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 26. Brown was driving a 1998 Ford Explorer westbound near milepost 11 at about 7:20 a.m. when the vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a semitruck , according to Oregon State Police. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Crashed

A Seaside woman Sept. 17 at 5:32 p.m. crashed her car on U.S. Highway 53 at milepost 2.2, her car winding up wedged between trees. State police say she was traveling southbound and her Ford truck left the roadway as she negotiated a curve, crashing her into the northbound ditch and eventually getting her stuck between trees. Her Ford left the area via Gary’s Tow. The Hamlet Fire Department was on scene. The 59-year-old driver wasn’t injured.

Flashing

Troopers went to the Sunset Beach area Sept. 18 at 3:40 p.m. after receiving a report of a woman flashing naked portions of her body to passing motorists. After speaking with the reporting party, the subject was located in her car heading back to U.S. Highway 101. She said she had been on the beach in various degrees of nudity and was dancing. She volunteered to take the field sobriety test and was not intoxicated. She told police she had a concealed firearm in her car in her purse and she had proper paperwork to carry it from Washington. A records check was conducted and came back clear. She was informed the case of the flashing complaint would be referred to the district attorney’s office. She is 31 years old and from Deer Park, Washington. The complainant is a 50-year-old woman from Lake Oswego.

Car in water

A trooper on patrol on U.S. Highway 101 near milepost 13.5 Sept. 18 at 11:51 p.m. saw a black four-door sedan off the road in standing water. The female operator said she’d been traveling north when she applied her brakes on a curve and lost control of the wheel. The trooper thought she seemed intoxicated and performed the field tests; the woman was arrested on scene, charged with driving while under the influence of intoxicants. After she was medically cleared at Columbia Memorial Hospital she was transported to the Clatsop County jail where she took the breath test providing a blood alcohol content percent of .14. She was issued criminal citations for driving while intoxicated and reckless driving. No further information was available identifying her.

Two-car crash

A two-car crash happened Sept. 20 at 10:46 a.m. on U.S. Highway 101 at milepost 1. No one was injured. Both cars were stopped behind a flagger at a construction site. A Ford box truck due to mechanical failure rolled downhill, rear-ending a Prius. The box truck, operated by a Seaside man, was towed by Classic Towing as it couldn’t be driven. The Prius was driven from the scene.

Crash

Troopers responded Sept. 24 at 3:46 p.m. to a crash on U.S. Highway 101 at milepost 23 when a GMC SUV traveling northbound slowed for heavy traffic was struck from behind by Dodge Caravan also traveling north. As a result of the impact, the GMC rolled once in the highway. The driver said they were slightly injured but refused medical attention. The Caravan was operated by a 79-year-old man from Cannon Beach. The GMC operator is an 85-year-old man from Manzanita.

Cell phone stolen while at Indian Beach

A 24-year-old Portland woman told state police Sept. 26 at 4:00 p.m. her cell phone was stolen from her bag while she was surfing at Indian Beach. She was calling from Portland and said she was trying to track her phone. Information was taken for a report and options given.

Gearhart Fire

Gearhart Fire Department responded to a call received via 911 on Sept. 21 at 3:43 p.m. responding to a potential water rescue just north of the Del Ray Beach access. As crews responded firefighters gathered information as to who the potential victim was, their possible location and their description. Volunteers, alongside responding Seaside Fire and Rescue, were able to locate the individual in under 15 minutes. The individual denied medical care and advised us he was not in distress, just enjoying the water. Along with Seaside Fire, the U.S. Coast Guard, and Medix Ambulance assisted in the response.
