An overnight fire in Gearhart resulted in a burn injury as the fire reached more than 200-foot flame lengths and torched trees.

Gearhart Fire officials said they received a call at 4 a.m. Monday about a structure fire in the area of Katie Court. The first crews to arrive called for additional assistance after finding two structures fully involved.

It took about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control, Gearhart Fire’s Interim Training Officer James Hutchinson said.

Crews left the residence 11 hours after the fire was out.

The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation.

The injured person received non-life-threatening burns to their foot, Hutchinson said.

The Red Cross was called to assist with displaced residents.

Gearhart was assisted by the Seaside, Warrenton and Lewis and Clark fire departments and the Oregon Department of Forestry. Additional assistance was provided by the fire departments of Hamlet, Cannon Beach, Nehalem, Astoria and Knappa.
