6:14 p.m., 800 block N. Roosevelt: Police intervene to a verbal argument at a drive-through restaurant where one of the parties objected to being recorded. It was explained to the person the legality of video recording. Police stayed on scene until the objecting party left the premises.

2:36 a.m., East end of Avenue D: Transients reported arguing in a camp agree to gather their belongings and part ways.

10:36 a.m., Fourth and Roosevelt: Caller reports road rage incident saying the other party pulled out a knife during a confrontation. Police searched the area for the person with negative results.

12:25 p.m., 1100 block Broadway: Caller reports dog left in car for over a half hour. Police check on the dog and see the windows are open and the dog is just lonely.

1:04 p.m., 1000 block S. Downing: Caller reports an intruder who broke into her apartment was attacked by her dog.

July 1

12:28 a.m., Turnaround: A group of juveniles out after curfew are turned over to a responsible adult who said they would take the kids home. No further police action was required.

12:31 a.m., First Avenue Bridge: An inebriated man is given a courtesy ride home after being reported pacing on the bridge.

3:00 a.m., 11th and Prom: An assault is reported.

11:04 a.m., 500 block Beach Drive: A person reports someone stole her sewing scissors.

12:48 p.m., 1100 block N. Roosevelt: Police facilitated in an information exchange at an accident where a dog left in a vehicle put the gear in neutral, causing the vehicle to roll and strike another vehicle. No injuries were reported.

12:51 p.m., U.S. Highway 101 by Motel 6: Police received two reports of an unescorted child running in the road. Police could not locate.

July 2

11:29 a.m., Library: Caller requests subject be trespassed from the library.

2:59 p.m., Avenue E and Beach Drive: Individual selling firewood without a business license was upset about a little girl selling lemonade and wanted to know if she had a business license. Police were advised.

Oregon State Police

Wanted on warrant

Mark Robert Hanson, 57, from Gearhart, was arrested June 16 at 6:10 p.m., on U.S. Highway 101 in Seaside after police stopped his 1997 Dodge Ram after observing the driving violating a traffic rule. Hanson was found to have a warrant dating back to 2014 from the Clatsop Sheriff’s Office. He was arrested on scene and transported to the county jail. His vehicle was secured at the traffic stop.

Brandishing firearm

Troopers were alerted June 16 at 7:57 p.m. of a person brandishing a firearm during an argument between two motorists on U.S. Highway 26 near milepost 20. All parties were interviewed by police. Accused of brandishing the firearm was a 41-year-old Seaside man. No probable cause was established.

Two-car crash

A two-car crash on U.S. Highway 101 near milepost 35 occurred June 20 at 12:39 p.m., when one car rear-ended another as the car in front attempted to make a left turn. The second car slammed on its brakes but couldn’t stop. A witness said it was following too closely. Both occupants of the second car, a couple in their 70s from Portland, were transported to the hospital by ambulance. The rear-ended car was towed by Gary’s Towing.

Impaired driving

A 23-year-old Chinook, Washington, man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated — controlled substance on June 20 at 3:41 p.m., on U.S. Highway 101 near milepost 21. While on patrol, officer saw a car in violation of traffic rules; the driver was pulled over and observed to be impaired. He failed several field sobriety tests and was transported to Seaside police headquarters for processing. He was also taken to the Astoria police station for further evaluation; the test revealed he had a .00% blood alcohol content. Alex J. Heckes was issued a criminal citation and released from the Astoria police department.

Road rage

A road rage incident involving a gun was reported June 20 at 5:48 p.m. on U.S. Highway 26 on Highway 26 near milepost 12. Both parties got to Seaside before they could be located. Troopers interviewed both parties in separate locations; one man, John Meiners, 43, from Warrenton, was cited for menacing with a firearm and released.

Warrant arrest

Levi Dennis Broom, 37, of Seaside, was arrested on a warrant June 21 at 7:13 on U.S. Highway 101 at milepost 23 after troopers witnessed him commit a traffic violation. A traffic stop was conducted; the warrant came up during a records check. Broom was arrested and transported to the Clatsop County jail for lodging.

Flying rock

A 74-year-old Gearhart man reported his windshield was broken when a rock flew up from under the wheels of a logging truck traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 26 near milepost 18 June 24 at 10:03 a.m. The Gearhart man was traveling eastbound. He turned around and followed the log truck until a trooper stopped it on U.S. Highway 101 near milepost 17. Police facilitated in an information exchange between the Gearhart man and the 69-year-old Nehalem truck driver.

Hit-and-run

State police responded to a report of a hit-and-run crash June 25 at 5:57 p.m., on U.S. Highway 26 at milepost 4. A preliminary investigation showed a white Kia traveling eastbound crossed the centerline and sideswiped westbound a silver Toyota. Damage was caused. The Kia driver fled the scene and later abandoned the car on Highway 26. He was reported as a suspicious person walking along Highway 101 at Hwy 26. Troopers located him and determined he was the driver at the crash. Samuel Tad Benson, 27, was arrested for reckless driving, reckless endangering another person, and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. He was taken to the Clatsop County Jail.

Rear-end collisions

Two rear-end crashes happened on U.S. Highway 26 near milepost 7 June 26 at 5:34 p.m. Police say they were two separate incidents involving four cars. There were two troopers on scene. Nobody needed tow and nobody was injured.

One-car crash

A single-car crash happened at 3:57 p.m., June 27 on U.S. Highway 101 at the U.S. Highway 26 junction. The driver, a 26-year-old man from Corvallis, said he was distracted as he went into a tight corner and drove his Jeep Renegade off the roadway. He hit an ODOT sign. He was issued a citation and drove with his passengers, two 28-year-olds, one from Corvallis, the other from New York City, from the scene.

Multi-car crash

Police responded to a multi-car crash June 29 at 6:31 on U.S. Highway 101 and Ensign Avenue, caused, police say, when the driver of a Toyota Rav 4 failed to stop at the light and collided with another Toyota, a Mazda, and a Hyundai. A fifth car was struck by the Hyundai as it was forced backwards from the collision. Several occupants were transported to hospital by medical personnel for injuries and three cars were towed from the scene. Two cars were able to be driven away. The driver of the Rav 4, Hailey Marie Gruetter, 20, from Portland, was issued a criminal citation and released for reckless driving.
