2:37 a.m., 1100 block Avenue A: Suspicious circumstances are reported.
9:25 a.m., Miss Tami’s Daycare: A person is warned of unlawful lodging.
2:13 p.m., Cannon Beach: Police are alerted by another agency of a stolen vehicle. Unable to locate.
3:02 p.m., 85000 block U.S. Highway 101: Car accident with injuries.
5:49 p.m., 2000 block Spruce Drive: A construction worker accidentally locked inside the gate at a job site is assisted and released.
5:59 p.m., Avenue G and the beach: Caller reports an intoxicated woman reported stumbling around with a child. Police are unable to locate.
7:18 p.m., 2300 block Ocean Vista Drive: Barking dogs are reported.
Aug. 8
3:17 a.m., 1200 block S. Holladay: Police responding to a burglar alarm on arrival detect no sign of forced entry. The keyholder is notified.
2:35 p.m., 100 block S. Prom: Caller reports cars parked in the fire lane; one subject is described pouring beer and driving. Police on arrival are told the person pouring beer has left the area.
4:10 p.m., Seaside: A person reports losing his wallet while riding in a surrey somewhere in Seaside.
5:09 p.m., 300 block S. Roosevelt: Police are advised of protesters in the area blocking driveway access to a business. Officers on scene remind everyone to keep it peaceful.
5:38 p.m., Police headquarters: Someone turns in a found wallet.
7:07 p.m., Ocean shore: A found wallet is turned over to police.
9:54 p.m., U.S.Highway 101, Gearhart: Car accident.

1:12 a.m., Turnaround: Public works is notified of graffiti on the wall.
7:45 a.m., 200 block Ninth Avenue: Dogs at large are reported.
8:06 a.m., 200 block First Avenue: The owner of a dog reported howling in a car is notified of the complaint; they say the issue will be resolved.
4:48 p.m., Cooper and Wahanna: A person is arrested on a warrant.
8:13 p.m., 800 block Fourth Avenue: Caller reports an unknown dog in their yard. Officer retrieves dog; owner claims it a short time later.
8:44 p.m., Avenue E and the Prom: A man reported playing conga drums and chanting loudly is gone prior to police arrival.

8:27 a.m., 2600 block U.S.Highway 101: Person reports their one-year old Golden retriever missing.
8:56 a.m., Bank of Pacific, Avenue G: Officers meet new employee who accidentally set off the alarm.
11:23 a.m., Estuary: Subjects reported with alcohol by their car say they’re taking their beverages to the beach.
1:08 p.m., OceanWay: A screaming man is unable to be located.
9:55 p.m., Eleventh and Queen: A person is cited for a fireworks offense.
Aug. 11
9:05 a.m., 900 block S. Holladay: Police check on a person who expressed thoughts of self harm. The subject said they were fine and not going to hurt themselves. No further action taken.
1:23 p.m., S. Holladay: A person reported yelling at swans is gone on police arrival.
2:20 p.m., Cove: Caller says two black wetsuits have gone missing.
2:23 p.m., Beach and Lifeguard Tower: An intoxicated man reported bothering people on the beach agrees to leave others alone and move along.
4:26 p.m., Cove: Police respond to a report of a disturbance in the parking area. Both parties agree to separate.
4:39 p.m., 1000 block Avenue F: Caller reports woman with belongings strewn in the roadway. Police assist the woman getting her things back on the sidewalk.
8:17 p.m., Holladay and Avenue A: A person is arrested on a warrant.

9:10 a.m., Lewis and Clark: A driver is cited for not wearing a seatbelt.
5:39 p.m., 2100 block S. Franklin: A disturbance is reported.
5:39 p.m., 900 block N. Franklin: Property crimes are reported.
5:46 p.m., Police headquarters: A person came in to register as a sex offender.
11:12 p.m., 1600 block Cooper: Persons reported camping in the area are unable to be located.

12:32 p.m., Thompson Falls: A person is arrested on a warrant.
4:37 p.m., 900 block S. Holladay: A disturbance is reported.
6:18 p.m., East End Avenue: Transients are advised to clean up their mess and leave.
7:59 p.m., River Walk: Caller reports transient’s belongings taking up a bench. The transient is located sleeping nearby. He was told to move along and public works was advised to remove his belongings if they are still there the next day.
9:17 p.m., Avenue G and Roosevelt: Caller reports an intoxicated person lying on the ground. Police are unable to locate.

Oregon State Police
Litter at Falcon Cove
A caller reported offensive litter left, she said, by surfers, at Falcon Cove Aug. 3. She originally complained about intoxicated people playing on the beach and was advised it is legal to have open containers on the beach. She said she would videotape the offensive litter and obtain license plates and give descriptions of the people to police.
Two-car accident
A Seattle man and a Portland woman were involved in a two-car accident reported Aug. 7 at 3:06 p.m., on U.S. Highway 101 and Rippet Lane near milepost 24. Both cars were traveling northbound; one car stopped for traffic moving in front of them, the second driver was going around 40 mph and didn’t see the car in front of him stop. He failed to brake in time and crashed into her. Both cars had to be towed. She was injured but not transported. He was cited for following too closely.
Car broken into
A Portland man reported Aug. 8 at 8:32 a.m., his Subaru was broken into while parked at the Del Rey beach access. The passenger window was smashed out and an iPhone taken, along with a purse wallet and credit cards.
Drinking driver crashes
Police received a complaint in the early afternoon on Aug. 8 about a white Ford truck with several men inside throwing empty containers of alcoholic beverages out the window while traveling on U.S. Highway 26 in the area of milepost 13. Patrol was unable to locate. Later that day, around 7:46 p.m., police were dispatched to a one-car crash on U.S. Highway 53 near milepost 11. On arrival, police saw the license plate matched the white Ford described earlier. Clues of impairment were observed. The driver was transported to Adventist Hospital in Tillamook. Blood was drawn at the hospital for the blood alcohol level chemical test.
Fatal crash on U.S. Highway 101
Van Nordquist, 70, from Cannon Beach, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on scene following a crash Aug. 11 at 10:15 a.m. on U.S. Highway 101 near milepost 32. Police say Nordquist, riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle, was traveling southbound and failed to negotiate a curve. He crossed into the northbound lane and collided with a Freightliner semi truck towing two empty trailers. U.S. Highway 101 was closed for five hours.
False information
On Aug. 12 at 5:34 p.m., police investigated a man charged with two counts of false swearing. Gary Douglas Griffen, 37 from Camas, WA, is being investigated for false information he provided on an application to buy a firearm at the Hamlet Quick Stop on U.S. Highway 26 in Seaside on Aug. 9. His case is referred to the D.A.’s office for consideration.
Disregard for highway workers
A 38-year-old Clackamas man was cited Aug. 13 at 9:23 a.m. on U.S. Highway 26 when he was stopped by ODOT employees for disregarding at least three signs indicating highway workers working in the area and driving past a line of cars waiting to be released by a flagger. The driver also drove into a closed section of the road while workers were recovering a crashed vehicle. A trooper contacted Brandy Lorenzo Birge who was cited and released for pending traffic crime and violations.
No camping
A caller reported people camping on the beach in Gearhart near the 10th Street access on Aug. 13 at 11:29 a.m. The caller said tents were in place for at least a week and shared he spoke with the people, offering them assistance with their car, a maroon Ford Explorer. The caller said they didn’t see any sign of occupancy in the tents for a few days and it appeared garbage was left behind. Oregon State Parks was contacted and removed tents, garbage, and human waste from the site. Police are looking to locate and cite the violators.
Denied firearm purchase
A 35-year-old Seaside man was denied purchase of a firearm at the Hamlet Quick Stop on U.S. Highway 26 Aug. 13 at 3:18 p.m. Police say he attempted to purchase the firearm two weeks prior.
Gearhart Police
In July, Gearhart Police reported three incidents of trespass, two deaths and 41 disturbances. Police received and cleared nine animal incidents. Eight traffic infractions and 53 warnings were issued. Of six traffic accidents, two were property damage only and four involved injuries, including two fatalities. Police conducted 277 security checks, responded to three alarms and rendered assistance 92 times.
Car break-ins at Hug Point
A caller reported Aug. 15 at 7:57 their car was broken while parked at Hug Point. Taken were a purse and credit cards. Another caller on the same date at 5:06 p.m. reported their vehicle broken into. Items taken included a loaded pistol.
Abandoned car
Police towed an abandoned car left at the Sunset rest area on U.S. Highway 26 Aug. 15 at 8:03 a.m.
Fell asleep
A 21-year-old Cannon Beach man crashed in Gearhart Aug. 15 at 4:57 p.m. on U.S. Highway 101 and Highlands Lane. Police say he fell asleep while traveling southbound and crossed two lanes of traffic before crashing into the northbound ditch. He wasn’t injured. Triangle Towing recovered the car.
Failures to yield
While turning on to U.S. Highway 101 in Gearhart from the Gearhart Loop near milepost 18, Aug. 16 at 3:06 p.m., a driver failed to yield to another driver traveling southbound. The second driver swerved to avoid a head-on collision and the first driver struck the second on the passenger side of their car. No injuries were reported and Gary’s Towing removed the second car from the scene.
Two-car crash
Injuries were reported at the scene of a two-car accident Aug. 17 at 7:57 a.m., on U.S. Highway 101 and Sunset Beach Lane. A driver failing to yield the right of way to highway traffic caused the crash. Both drivers were transported to Providence Seaside Hospital. The driver of the first car was issued a citation. Classic Towing removed the second car at the driver’s request.
