Letter: Sentiments in letter were repugnant

Re: “You are moving here for a reason”
Who are you to tell people how to vote? Your letter is offensive. Your letter reads like a threat.
This is the United States of America and in this nation and in this state no one tells other people who to vote for or how to vote.
You are entitled to vote for whomever you please. So is everyone else, no matter from where they are moving or why.
You make a lot of assumptions about who is moving here, from where, and why. You also make a lot of assumptions about the people who currently live here.
You clearly believe that everyone who currently lives here and has been living here thinks, believes, feels and votes the same way you do.
Telling people to vote to “protect the reasons that attracted you to move here by voting for candidates that clearly demonstrate loyalty to protecting our way of life” is appalling and repugnant.
Voting is a personal and private endeavor and one of our most precious rights in this country.
As demographics change, so do the demographics of those who are voted for as representatives. That is the beauty of democracy.

My name is David Posalski. My wife and I moved to Seaside in 2010 to open Tsunami Sandwich Company.
Seaside has done amazing things for our family. Our son graduated from Seaside High School and has gone on to Oregon State and is completing his degree this year.
The opportunities provided by Seaside have blossomed into five local businesses for us.
We employ over 50 local employees in the restaurant industry.
Upon arriving in Seaside, we were thrilled by the community here and immediately became involved. I have served six years on the Seaside Chamber of Commerce board of directors. I have served on the Seaside Transportation Commission, and have provided almost three years of service on the Seaside Planning Commission.
My desire is to continue serving our community through the City Council as your commissioner for Ward 4.
I hope to be an open ear and your voice on the council as I serve our entire community.
