‘Break the Chain Run’ ahead

Runners are invited to the third annual Seaside 5K Run to Break the Chain on Saturday, Aug. 15, at 9 a.m. Registration opens at 8 a.m.
The goal of the Seaside 5K and Fun Run to Break the Chain is to raise awareness and benefit the Sunset Empire Park and Recreation District and Operation Underground Railroad, an organization which exists to rescue children from sex trafficking. Proceeds go toward local, healthy activities for children and families, as well as the rescue and recovery of children caught in trafficking.
The race will begin in the 12th Avenue parking lot and participants will run the length of the beach and back to complete the 5K.
Social distancing and staggered start times of five minutes per 20 participants will be implemented
Registration is $30 and includes a T-shirt. Participation is limited to 100 runners. For more information, visit sunsetempire.com.
