County to begin Seaside appraisals

Home and business property owners can expect appraisers from Clatsop County’s Assessment and Taxation Department to inspect properties within Seaside’s city limits as part of the department’s ongoing comprehensive reappraisal of the entire county, the county announced this week.

Over the next two to three years, appraisers will visit neighborhoods in vehicles bearing the Clatsop County logo and carry official county identification.

During the pandemic, appraisers will conduct inspections from the street for residential property in the beginning of the reappraisal project. As pandemic conditions change inspection protocol may revert to pre-pandemic type inspections.

If a residential property owner wishes to have their building re-measured or arrange for a virtual interior inspection, they may do so by contacting the county’s Assessment and Taxation Department to arrange for an appointment. If an appraiser has questions about a residential property, the county will reach out to the property owner via phone or by sending a post card to the mailing address on record for property tax statements.

The county uses in-person site inspections coupled with real property sales data and other information to determine a property’s real market value.
