It’s a no-brainer that you’ll see a great sunset if you take a stroll along the beach. But in Cannon Beach, there are more spots worth visiting to watch the sunset.

Along the coast itself are many great places to find a perch and enjoy the view. Keep in mind though, that the beach itself will likely be the most popular spot to watch the sunset.

If you want to be close to the beach but want some space to yourself, consider taking a walk near one of the streets close to the beach, such as Ocean Avenue and Ecola Court. The hike to Indian Beach is also a worthwhile spot to visit for the sunset, as long as you bring gear to illuminate the trail on your way away from the beach.

If you’d rather drive, you’ll likely have a hard time finding a space downtown to park and watch the sunset. You may have some luck on some of the higher-up streets but a safer bet would be to drive somewhere nearby instead.

Whale Park, located near the north end of Cannon Beach, makes for spectacular views of the coast, no matter the time of day. The park is reachable by driving or walking.

Silver Point, Arcadia Beach and Hug Point, headed south of Cannon Beach, also make for good sunset watching spots.

When heading somewhere to watch the sunset, be sure to not trespass on private property, especially when downtown. Also make sure to follow recreational sites’ guidelines.
