Cultural coalition awards grants to Sunset Rec Foundation, Trail’s End

Two South County organizations, Sunset Park and Recreation Foundation and Trail’s End Art Association in Gearhart were among those to receive grants from  Clatsop County Cultural Coalition.

ln an awards ceremony in Astoria on the Clatsop Community College Campus, Wednesday, Dec. 11, eight Clatsop county organizations received grants from Clatsop County Cultural Coalition. Money awarded to these Clatsop county organizations are for events, projects, and improvements to take place in 2020. Funds are provided by Oregon Cultural Trust, and determined and distributed through the Clatsop County Cultural Coalition.

Total grant funds requested were $26,000; $9,500 was delivered. 

Sunset Park and Recreation Foundation won a grant of $1,500 for interpretive public art for Mill Ponds Natural History Park. 

Trails End Art Association won a grant of $820 for marketing to increase membership. 

Other grant awardees included:

$1,500: Cascadia Concert Opera — artist fees.

$1,220: Partners for the Performing Arts Center — administrative office equipment.

$1,210: Grace Episcopal Church – materials and expenses for arts and music summer camp for children.

$1,200: The Writer’s Guild — honorarium for visiting sriter and workshop supplies.

$1,050: Astoria Scandinavian Heritage Association — translator and director for Readers Theater “From Suomi Hall.”

$1,000: Lower Columbia Hispanic Council — dance shoes and costumes for Cinco de Mayo.
