The Seaside American Association of University Women Scholarship Foundation announced winners of the annual June Stromberg scholarship. They include Seaside graduating seniors Cori Biamont, Majestik DeLuz, and Jenna Logan.

Winner of the scholarship for a woman returning to college at least five years after high school graduation is Katherine (Kate) Bardonski.

Each June Stromberg winner excelled scholastically while also holding jobs. Additionally, they each participated in numerous school and community activities.

Cori Biamont was described as energetic, ambitious, determined, and an organized leader. She seeks to become a pediatric or surgical nurse.

Majestik DeLuz was described as positive, responsible, industrious, creative, and goal-driven. She will pursue training to serve as a mental health professional.

Jenna Logan was described as responsible, analytic, friendly, mature, and motivated. She wishes to prepare herself for a career as a medical examiner.

Kate Bardonski has always loved costume design, having made costumes for community events and Halloween. Leaving a successful job to advance her education, she wants to prepare herself for a career in costume design for professional productions. She will begin her training at Clatsop Community College. Her employers describe her as an eager and quick learner, a natural leader, and one with a strong work ethic.

The scholarship foundation was formed specifically to generate funds for local scholarships, with over $20,000 in awards distributed so far. June Stromberg was a longtime Seaside AAUW member who strongly valued education for women.

In her honor, the foundation annually awards one or more $1,000 scholarships to female high school seniors who meet graduation requirements, are the first female in the immediate family unit to have the opportunity to complete a degree program, are a good citizens of school and local community, demonstrate financial need, and have an academic plan.

In addition, the foundation awards a “Women Returning to School” scholarship each year. Eligible women must have been out of high school for at least five years and be enrolled in a two or four-year college program. One or more $2,000 scholarships are awarded annually to successful applicants.

Donations should be directed to the Seaside AAUW Scholarship Foundation at P. O. Box 693, Seaside, OR, 97138.
