Seaside Rotary Supports Local Projects

The Seaside Rotary Foundation recently awarded $2,750 to local organizations as the club continues to support local endeavors and opportunities.

The club awarded the Tsunami Skippers $500 to help aid the club with their operations and travel expenses. The Skippers are a widely recognized sport for youth in the community and feature athletes from age 5-16. This year the club has performed throughout the Northwest, including at an Oregon Ducks game. Later this year the club will be traveling to Europe to participate in a world

competition.

The Rotary Club also distributed $500 to the Clatsop County Career & Job Fair, which was held on March 6 at Clatsop Community College in Astoria. The Job Fair welcomed over 700 students from all of the regions high schools and highlighted employment opportunities with nearly 80 local employers.

Continuing their benevolence, the Club provided a $750 donation to the WINGS Conference. The WINGS Conference provides opportunities for Women Interested in Going Back to School (WINGS) and was held on March. The Rotary Foundation feels that this Conference was in line with the Club’s goal of encouraging opportunities for people to better themselves through education and information.

Lastly, the Club provided a $1,000 donation to the AAUW Scholarship program predicated on a matching amount challenge. The AAUW local chapter committed to fundraise $1,000 of their own.

The Rotary Foundation is pleased to allocate funds that provide generous scholarship funding for scholarships intended to help female students that are heading to college out of high school or returning to school after a delay in their education.

The Club looks forward to serving the residents of Seaside and throughout South Clatsop County with these funding allocations.
