Seaside unstoppable in win over Gladstone

SEASIDE — The highest-scoring team in Class 4A football racked up another 70 points Friday night, in a 70-46 win over Gladstone in a nonleague game at Broadway Field.

Seaside held a 10-point lead at halftime, then locked it up with four touchdowns in the third quarter for a 56-38 advantage.

Seaside’s Alex Teubner was held to just 175 yards rushing and three touchdowns, both season lows for the senior running back.

Senior quarterback Payton Westerholm had three touchdown passes in the first half, tossed another TD to Brayden Johnson in the third quarter, and ran for touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters.

Westerholm completed 11 passes for 313 yards (over 28 yards per completion), with Johnson catching five for 171 yards and two touchdowns. The Gulls’ balanced offensive attack rang up 642 yards in total offense (329 rushing, 313 passing).

Seaside also had 25 first downs, and was 9-of-11 on third down conversions.

The Gulls host Astoria on Friday at Broadway Field. The Fishermen are coming off a narrow 24-22 loss to No. 1-ranked Estacada.
