The game’s afoot and Clatsop County youth are being called on to do some crime-solving in a summer production of “Sherlock Holmes: The Baker Street Irregulars.”

The Clatsop Children’s Theatre Company, in partnership with the Sunset Empire Park and Recreation District, is looking for children 7 and older to participate in the show. Auditions will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday, May 21, at the Mary Blake Playhouse in Seaside and 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, at the Bob Chisholm Community Center in Seaside. Rehearsals will take place in Seaside from June through August, and four performances will be held in mid-August (location to be determined).

In this adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s works about the iconic British sleuth, Sherlock Holmes is missing, and the streets of London are awash with crime. The Baker Street Irregulars — a gang of street kids hired by Sherlock himself to help solve cases — try to fill the detective’s shoes. They band together not only to prove Sherlock isn’t dead but also to find the mayor’s missing daughter, untangle a murder mystery from their own past, and face the masked criminal mastermind behind it all.

The Clatsop Children’s Theatre Company is also searching for teen and adult volunteers who want to contribute to the production as crew members, from stage managers to light and sound technicians.

“Sherlock Holmes: The Baker Street Irregulars” is adapted by Eric Coble from the graphic novels by Tony Lee and Dan Boultwood and produced by special arrangement with the Dramatic Publishing Company.
