Westerholm named state’s Coach of the Year

- Seaside juniors Chase Januik, left, and Payton Westerholm were named second-team all-state, while Bill Westerholm earned the Coach of the Year award, after leading the Gulls to another state championship.
Three members of the Seaside boys basketball team picked up their final rewards for another state championship season, with the recent release of the Class 4A all-state squad.
Seaside coach Bill Westerholm was named Coach of the Year, while juniors Chase Januik and Payton Westerholm were both named second team.
The 4A Player of the Year honor went to senior Dalton Renne of Banks. Joining Renne on the first team were Kye Blaser (Newport), Ian Collett (Tillamook), Jayden Frank (North Bend) and Kyle Hadwick (Henley).
Junior Aspen Slifka of Banks was named as the 4A girls Player of the Year.
