SEASIDE — Seven runs in the top of the first inning was all Tillamook needed Thursday, as the Cheesemakers scored a 9-2 win over Seaside in a Cowapa League softball game at Broadway Field.

Tillamook committed six errors in the field, but made up for it with 11 hits, including five for extra bases.

Pitcher Hannah Nelson did the rest, as the Tillamook freshman scattered six hits with two strikeouts and a walk. Kandice Flaigg had two hits for Seaside, which was playing its third game in three days.

Viola Soprano had a double, while Bri Hill and Flaigg scored the two runs for the Gulls, who stranded 11 baserunners.

Tillamook sophomore Katey Jenck had three hits and scored twice, and freshmen Nessa Hurliman and Daisy Valencia combined for three RBIs.

Seaside’s Jetta Ideue relieved starter Gracie Rhodes in the first inning, and struck out nine with three walks.
