Incumbent candidate for Clatsop County commissioner, District 5, which covers southern Clatsop County including Cannon Beach, Arch Cape, Elsie, Hamlet and Jewell and portions of Seaside.

I was first elected to the Board of Commissioners in September 2014. I currently represent District 5.

I’m a native of Michigan and earned a bachelor’s degree in humanities from Michigan State University and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Michigan.

I have been active in a number of community organizations, including the Community Emergency Response Team program and the Clatsop County Planning Commission. I regularly volunteer with the American Red Cross, emergency ham radio, and the Medical Reserve Corps.

I’m running for re-election because my heart is in this place. During my first term, I have engaged with constituents, fellow commissioners, and colleagues around this county and across the state.

I have not obeyed commands from those who thought they could control my votes for one reason or another. You deserve an elected representative who listens to all sides, thinks, then acts to achieve the most good for as many as possible.

If I’m re-elected I will continue to work for the people of Clatsop County to get real things done. I’ve spent the last four years on the commission working with our partners around the state, our Clatsop County delegation in Salem, and stakeholder groups to address our most pressing issues. How do we keep housing affordable for everyone? How do we be the best stewards of our lands, and protect our ecological future? How do we keep our economy thriving and encourage business to work with us? Over the next four years I plan to work just as hard as I am currently for the people of Clatsop County on these issues and more. Through working together and listening to the voice of Clatsop County residents, we can ensure our county is the magical place to live, work and raise a family it has been for so long.
