- A fatal crash closed Highway 26 to both lanes of traffic Sunday.
One person died and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash that closed Highway 26 Sunday morning.
An initial investigation found the driver of a 2006 Audi appears to have lost control while traveling westbound near milepost 13 and struck a 2009 Jeep Cherokee head-on.
The driver of the Audi, Jesus M. Ramirez-Cortes of Milwaukie, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, Sylvia L. Kearns of Vancouver, Washington, was sent to Providence Seaside Hospital to treat minor injuries.
Alcohol use is being considered as a contributing factor, according to Oregon State Police.
Highway 26 was shut down for about one hour then restricted for another three hours while the crash was being investigated.
