Girls

Annaka Garhofer, Basketball

The junior highlighted Seaside’s only win in the recent Holiday Classic (Dec. 14-16), as she scored 17 points in a 51-33 victory over Crook County in a first round game. Garhofer had back-to-back 3-pointers in a 17-0 run by the Gulls. She made seven of her 16 shot attempts, and also had three steals. Garhofer added 10 points in a loss to Elma, and eight points in a loss to Newport. She was selected to the All-Tournament team, along with teammate Jetta Ideue.

Boys

Josh Shipley, Swimming

A junior, Shipley had personal best times in winning two events at the Astoria Andrew Nygaard Invitational (Dec. 9) — 2:15.34 in the 200 individual medley (a three-second drop from his best time, and would have qualified him for last year’s state meet); and 51.62 in the 100 freestyle, which would have placed him third in last year’s district meet. Shipley also swam a leg on Seaside’s winning 200 medley relay team.
