Seaside scored its second win of the season Tuesday, in a late night Clatsop Clash game with Astoria at CMH Field.
A penalty kick by Seaside’s Lizzy Barnes midway through the second half was the game’s lone goal, giving the Gulls a 1-0 victory.
The Lady Gulls take over fourth-place in the league standings, at 2-4-1 (2-7-2 overall), ahead of Astoria (1-5-1).
“The beginning of the game started a little slow, but then we started applying some pressure,” said Seaside first-year coach Josh Garhofer. “And Patty Granillo (a senior defender) was a big part of that. Offensively, we had a few corner kick opportunities, but we just couldn’t score.
“GeriAnn Klaffke had a tremendous game for us.”
Klaffke — a junior goalkeeper who has been substituting for Kirstin Lent (concussion) for the last two weeks, recorded the shutout in goal for Seaside, which plays at Valley Catholic next Tuesday.
Astoria has a week off before playing at Tillamook Tuesday.
