Eight local non-profits and individuals will receive grant funds totaling $10,595 from the Clatsop County Cultural Coalition at an awards ceremony Thursday, Dec. 10, at 6:30 p.m. at the Liberty Theater in Astoria. Doors open at 6 p.m. and there will be refreshments after the brief program. Clatsop Cultural Coalition co-chair Charlene Larsen will be mistress of ceremonies. Cindy Flood of the Peninsula Association of Performing Artists will speak about “The Survival of the Arts.” The Port City Singers from Astoria High School will perform a short medley of seasonal music. All eight groups receiving funding will briefly describe their project and receive a check. In addition to annual funding from the Oregon Cultural Trust, the local coalition received a $2,000 grant from the Oregon Community Foundation to re-grant to groups in Clatsop county. Interested community members are welcome to attend the presentation and learn more about the Oregon Cultural Trust, the Clatsop County Cultural Coalition, and the projects planned by the groups that are receiving funding for 2016.
