Visit the Gilbert District for ‘Shop Small Saturday’

The Gilbert District will be participating for the fifth year in the national Shop Small Saturday campaign Nov. 28 with an all-day event. Shoppers will be encouraged to patronize small and local businesses.

Although Shop Small Saturday was created by American Express, businesses do not have to accept American Express to participate in a neighborhood event. Neighborhoods across the country are being encouraged to host events to bring together their communities and encourage local shopping.

At least 15 businesses from the historic Gilbert District of downtown Seaside, which encompasses the four city blocks on the corners of Broadway and Holladay Drive, will participate in 2015. The amount of support given to this event is amazing, products include Shop Small canvas tote bags, buttons, banners, posters and national advertising, provided at no charge to participating businesses.

On Nov. 28, Fairweather House and Gallery will offer complimentary gift wrapping, serve a light brunch and will offer each visitor a gourmet chocolate bite. Beach Books will offer specials, as well. The Riverwalk Thrift Shop, which is a benefit shop to support the Clatsop County Spay and Neuter program, will have a drawing for a $50 gift certificate, as will Beach Puppy.

Businesses participating thus far are: The “B” boutique, SunRose Gallery, Fairweather House and Gallery, Gilbert District Gallery, Beach Puppy, Beach Books, Three Little Birds Bakery, Seaside Coffee House, SeaSoles Boutique, Mc Keown’s Restaurant, Shear Pleasures Salon and Spa, Tora Sushi Lounge and 94.9/The Bridge and more. Courtesy parking for the area is on the corner of Holloday and Oceanway.
