What’s coming up in the Gilbert District

In September, the Gilbert District Gallery, 611 Broadway, located in the Kerwin Building features artists Jennie Truitt and Ian Ricker. Ricker is a local artist living in Chehalis, Washington with his wife and partner Jennie Truitt (Ricker). As a small boy he discovered his artistic gift and became fascinated with the results different media could achieve, leading to career as an art instructor for more than 20 years. The gallery also offers original water colors, bronzes, limited edition giclée and prints, Native American jewelry, oil paintings, greeting cards and metal sculpture.
SunRose Gallery, 606 Broadway, located in the Gilbert Building presents a new selection by owner-artist Cathy Tippin wof her handcrafted china earrings and pendants. September Art Walk is an open house with light appetizers and live music by gallery owner Ray Coffey.
Fairweather House and Gallery, 612 Broadway, located in the Gilbert Building opens “Collective Energy,” an exhibition bringing artists of all mediums together. Artists appearing include Paul Brent, Rinee Merritt, Richard Newman, Billie Johnstone, Bobby McWhirter and naturalist Neal Maine.
Saturday, Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. Maine offers a natural history lecture about “what’s happening in August along the coastal edge, in our own back yards.” Throughout the evening, artist Paul Brent, will offer a Painting Seaside LIVE, demonstrating painting a watercolor.
Beach Books, 616 Broadway, located in the Gilbert Building, features the Green Cab Artist Collective. The “Cabbies” are a synergistic alliance of artists, working in diverse mediums from the greater Portland area.
SeaSoles Boutique, 12 N Holladay Drive, located in the Gilbert Building, features the work of a local artist Dolores Matthys, who started Pawsitive Souls, a Holistic Animal Welfare Society, after a career at Nike. All net proceeds from the sales will benefit Pawsitive Souls.
Seaside Coffee House, 3 N. Holladay Drive, located in the Wheatley-Desler Building features art by Morgan Stoller, whose pen and ink work is demonstrated through dramatic, subtle contrasts of light and shadows.
T. Anjuli’s Gallery, 5 N. Holladay Drive, located in the Wheatley-Desler Building features artists-gallery owners Lisa Scigliano and Billy Lutz.
Vetrata Doni, aka Stained Glass Gallery, 810 Broadway, located in the Wheatley-Desler Building presents hand-blown glass from Opal Art Glass Studios in Cosmopolis Washington. Opal Art Glass creates traditional and contemporary blown glass forms using hand-tooled techniques. The unique crystal designs reflect influences from the Pacific Northwest’s environs, culture, and crafts movements. Artist-owner Kathy Kathman will unveil new stained glass works, as well.
